HFPCWU is being represented by the vice general secretary Jane Mwase. Jane Mwase works for Lilongwe Dairy. Speaking from Geneva Jane Mwase has said the women’s conference has started on a good note. She said said on the first day they covered 5 items on the draft agenda.Fighting for our future had already chosen speakes who tackled the topic. The problem was the time allocated was not enough as most delegates had much to contribute. the African region had a few representatives as compared to other regions. On care economy IUF had invited an economist to tackle the topic. A great debate ensured on domestic workers. As women should we employ a domestic worker – is it not our duty as women to do the domestic work were some of the reasoning from delegates.

Jane Mwase  said it was an eye opener. The meeting will continue today
