The President of Hotel Food Processing and Catering Workers Union on Tuesday 7th October led a delegation of Hotels Union in a meeting with officials from the ministry of Tourism. During the meeting a number of issues were raised
one of the issues raised was service charge to which the ministry responded that it was working on setting a sectoral minimum wage. On sexual harassment the ministry said this is a vice which the ministry and the union should tackle together. The ministry said together with the union they should write a project proposal to that effect.
The ministry also said they agreed with the union that the sector had many taxes. The ministry said it also will look into the issue of involving the union is hotel star grading
The meeting concluded by affirming that the two bodies should work together and also include other stakeholders in the sector
