Hotel Food Processing and Catering Workers Union (HFPCWU) today donated relief items to people in Chief Nsomo in Chikwawa district. The clothes comprised all type of clothing. The Vice General Secretary Jane Mwase was moved by the situation many families in the affected areas are going through. She raised this at the just ended IUF congress in Geneva. She called upon all members to contribute to this noble cause.
Speaking at the handover ceremony a woman representative thanked the union for the clothing items donated to the area. She said the cyclone happened at night and people had no chance to take their clothes with them. The village woman representative said now they will be able to socialize with others because she will have clothes.
Speaking at the same function Senior group headman Mr Nsomo said he was very happy to receive such a donation and prayed that other organisations will also assist them
The General Secretary for the union said giving is not the amount but the heart of sharing. We as Malawians should be the first to assist our fellow country men.
