A shopstewards training is underway in Mzuzu at Grand Palace Hotel in Mzuzu. The training has attracted participants from all HFPCWU branches in Mzuzu and Nkhata Bay. The training will run from 14th June to 15th June 2023. The training is being facilitated by comrade Zione Nyirenda, Emmanuel Pindani and Regional labour officer for the north Dr Malema.
The training will cover Trade Union Organisation, Grievance Handling, Shopstewards their role and qualities and collective Bargaining. The regional labour officer will cover the labour laws.
The training is being attended by 20 participants.
Speaking from Mzuzu the project coordinator of SASK who are funding this training said she was happy with the attendance and seriousness of the participants. She said it has being a while since such a training took place in the north. Zione Nyirenda said she will discuss with the steering committee if another such type of training can be conducted again in Mzuzu.
Comrade Mtende Sibale the regional representative for the north is also in attendance.
